🌍 Localization
Add languages and translate every string in the app.
Localization adds languages to your app and manages the translations for each one. Every piece of text Ada writes into your app becomes a key, and each language holds one translation per key.
The language list
Section titled “The language list”One row per language, showing:
- The language code in capitals — EN, FR, PT-BR.
- A Default badge on the source language.
- Coverage — how many keys are translated, as
18/24 translated.
While a language is being translated the coverage is replaced by live progress — Translating 12/24… — with a spinner.
Adding a language
Section titled “Adding a language”The field at the bottom takes a language code: fr, pt-BR, ja. Add, or Enter, adds it.
Adding a language starts a translation pass in the background. The row appears immediately and fills in as the pass runs, so you can keep working.
Removing a language
Section titled “Removing a language”The bin icon on a row removes that language.
The default language has no bin — it is the source everything else is translated from.
A language that is mid-translation cannot be removed either, and the icon is disabled with a tooltip saying so. Deleting a file the translator is part-way through writing would only bring it back on the next batch.
Edit translations
Section titled “Edit translations”Edit translations opens the full table: every key as a row, every language as a column, so you can read a string and all of its translations side by side.
This is the place to fix a translation you disagree with, or to fill in a key that was added after a language was created.
Tip
You can also edit a single string from the element editor in Screens. Selecting an element in a multi-language app edits the current language’s translation, and the editor says which one — for example Editing the FR translation.
